Setting up the WiFi connection using a PC or Mac.
You can setup the camera's Wireless connection using your PC or MAC in addition to the app, this article will outline the steps required to setup using the former. Note that this setup occurs in a web browser so the steps are the same for both Windows and Mac platforms. For the examples shown we will be using Windows.
To start with login to the settings area of the camera, click the link below for a guide on doing this.
Once in settings go to Network- Wireless Setup
On this page use the search function to scan for local networks in the area, then select yours from the list then click OK.
You then need to enter your router WPA key into the fields required twice, note that these fields are case sensitive so this must be entered accurately. If entered incorrectly the connection will fail and the camera will not work over WiFi.
Once entered click apply to save these details.
Once complete you will see a message "wireless setup accepted successfully" however you are not done yet, we first need to test this by using the test function shown below.
Click this and the camera will test the wireless connection, if you get the message "wireless test successful" this means your details have been entered correctly and the camera is now set for Wireless operation.
Close the web browser then in order complete the following
-Power off the camera,
-Remove the Ethernet cable,
-Power the camera back on,
-Wait for 5 minutes for the camera to boot up fully.
Once booted try connecting to your camera using the app on your smartphone and it should show as "connected" and you are able to view it. If so congratulations, your camera is now operating wirelessly and can be placed anywhere within range of your WiFi network.
